Lighting Tech

Location: North haven, Connecticut.

General Description:
Lighting Technicians are responsible for consistently providing high-quality lighting systems for live events. They work in the office to prepare designs and equipment requirements. They work in the field hands-on setting, tuning, operating and striking lighting and other AV systems in coordination with the crew.

This client-facing position will work collaboratively with sales and operations to create effective lighting systems in accordance with client requirements and expectations.

Job Tasks:
Assist sales team in specifying and selling lighting elements.
Review orders with sales & production team and make equipment recommendations.
Prepare lighting plots with direct input from sales, production, and/or client.
Prepare/review rigging requirements.
Assist, supervise, and/or perform installation, wiring, setup, and rigging of lighting fixtures.
Program and operate lighting control console.
Assist, supervise, and/or perform strike of installation.
Train and educate staff as necessary to perform assistant functions.

Supervisory: This job has no direct reports but is responsible for the on-site supervision of HB Live and contract staff when performing work in the “lighting function” of live events.

Product Specialty: this position is responsible for specifying and maintaining lighting products that are appropriate for our business opportunities. This includes:
Research manufactures and vendors.
Build prioritized purchasing list.
Design lighting kits and packages and specify pricing structure.

Skills & Requirements:
Thorough knowledge and hands-on experience with Lighting Systems equipment and live event production.
Professional sound, video, projection a plus
Helpful, active participant in a busy working environment.
Project management experience a plus.
Working knowledge of Microsoft Office suite, Visio and Vectorworks.
Detail oriented. Able to manage multiple active projects to balance priorities.
Personable and collaborative. Willing to listen and learn from experienced teammates.
Demonstrate a working knowledge of electrical power distribution and live event production. Must be proficient in rigging and electrical safety standards and procedures.
Clean driving record required.

Work Schedule: Varies according to the needs of the client.  Weekdays, nights and weekends are part of this career choice.
